Sometimes giving your blog a new look is exactly what you need and if that doesn’t work you can always start a new one for all your I’m-not-to-sure-what-I’m-doing posts until you figure out what you’re passionate about.

A lot of times the reason we lose motivation is because our goals don’t align with what we want at the moment, take some time to reassess what you want.

Say goodbye to blogging for a bit. For some this is scary because there’s always that fear of what if I lose all my engagement once I’m back but I definitely think it’s necessary to take a break from blogging at least a few times during your blogging journey to avoid burnout and spend some time focused solely on yourself.

my 2019 goals|blogmas 2018

It wouldn’t take a genius to figure out that his year hadn’t gone the way I wanted it to. For the longest time I stopped trying, I just…didn’t see the point in anything.

Starting the year off that way, I feel, was the reason the rest of the year more or less continued to be filled with a lot of sadness and more-than-occasional self loathing. But I can’t pretend the year was all that horrible. I made new friends, stayed in touch with a few of my old ones, watched my best friend’s dream of writing a series come true and had the honor of having my name be in the dedication. I travelled, ate a corn dog for the first time, hit a major blogging goal of mine and opened up more on here.

There have been high highs and incredibly low lows but overall I’m not as happy as I want to be. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s that sometimes happiness is a decision. There are bad days, that’s normal, but the only way you get past that is by actively trying to create some sort of change,and that’s exactly what I’m trying to do.

Listen to new music

Music has always had a major impact on me. Recently, my sister and I were having a conversation about mental health and our lives and one of the things that came up was how changing the music she listened to impacted her happiness. To summarize what she said it was something along the lines of ‘it’s comforting to listen to ‘sad’ music but at the end of the day nothing changes, it’s just you listening to the same music and you’re just replaying the same sad events over and over again for months’ and that made perfect sense to me.

In 2019, I intend to say goodbye to some of the songs I used to listen to, in hopes that if I stop replaying the past I can make a future for myself that makes my heart happy.

Join a sports team

One of my major goals for 2019 is to get my health at a good place. I spent a bunch of time in and out of hospital being treated for anemia and it was the most frustrating thing ever. Mainly because I was too weak to do a lot of things. I stopped doing sport at the beginning of April, as some of you may know I ended up in a mental health facility or to put it bluntly, rehab. For some reason I just haven’t been able to get back into being active again. I stopped exercising completely, which is why I figure the best way to start is at full speed.

Invest in my future

Learn Russian

I think I’ve said this before, nope, I definitely have but I’ve wanted to go to Russia since I was 3 years old. That hasn’t changed. In fact, I probably want to go more now, than I ever have before. I’ve been learning Russian for the past few months but in between school and life, I’ve completely fallen off track. I need to get back on the bandwagon.

Be more social

Over the past year, I’ve become more and more anxious about social situations. The thought alone of having to make conversation or be around people was enough to give me a full blown panic attack. This isn’t the type of thing you jump straight into, it takes a bunch of small steps and I’m willing to try them, I don’t want to do anything halfway. I want to be able to contribute to conversations again and not have to question what I’ve said or what they’re thinking. I want to be able to do public speaking and debating again, I want my voice back.

Drink more water

People always ask me why I don’t have pimples, and everyone’s expecting me to give them this fancy facial routine and I can’t because I don’t have one. Truth be told, I’m too lazy to come up with one so water has been the one and only thing keeping my skin somewhat under control.

Speaking of skin, Em Ford has this new series, Redefine Pretty which I definitely think is worth a watch. Whether or not, you struggle with finding confidence in your skin the message is super important.

 

Work on my mental health

I have every intention of putting myself first in 2019. “Mental health over every damn thing”.

Write everyday

This comes along with my goal of improving my writing. The thing about blogging, and just writing in general is that they’re a million different ways of doing it and I want to experiment with that. My writing has improved majorly over the past year and that’s solely because I put so much effort into everything that I wrote, and whilst at the time I didn’t do it every day, I have since July and it’s already made such a difference.

It doesn’t always have to be these long flowy paragraphs sometimes it’s just, this is how my day went and that’s okay.

Organise my life

The last time I remember having my life together was January, right after I posted my How to Slay 2018 blog post and then life happened. I want to get back to the point in my life where I had a system that worked for me because that made school and blogging a million times easier. I’ve already kind of decided on the system I’m going to use, I used it back in 2017 when my life was still very busy but having that system made it a lot less chaotic.

Anyway Blogmas is coming up so you’ll be hearing all about that later.

‘Happy things’ journal

I know Jenna Koenig had something similar to a happy things journal except hers was for art. Mine is probably just going to consist of things that make/made my heart happy at some point. I think the main reason I thought of this was because it’s super easy to think of all the bad things in a situation and you never really pay much attention to all the positives and sometimes you just need a reminder.

Start my own K’s journal

My brother has this notebook where he writes all his observations?? I’m 99.9% sure observations isn’t even the right word, anyway, it’s full of quotes and thoughts and the other day I found one in the notes section of my phone. One of the things I loved about reading that note was that I found it at a time when I needed to hear that kind of message, that and it’s kind of like everything he says/thinks comes out sounding deep and philosophical and I love that.

Which is why I wanted to start my own because he wouldn’t let me have his lol. I just think it’ll be really cool to look back on this someday and have this book full of things that I learned/ got me through moments of sadness/chaos.

Rate my mood everyday

I could’ve put this under work on my mental health BUT I tend to forget about this type of thing if it’s not written separately. I’ve been using the app, Pacifica to rate my mood for the past week and it’s helped majorly. Once you’ve filled in your ‘mood entry’ it offers a bunch of suggestions to improve your mood/day, it makes finding the positives in each day so much easier and I can’t recommend it enough.

I’m not even going to bother with pretending to be all smiles and laughs at the moment because I am most definetly not, I am moody and emotional for no reason and I may or may not have punched a wall. Regardless, I have a lot to share with you and I haven’t blogged in a while so I’m hoping this post still has my usual spark.
So I’ve been following Monika from Destination Humanity for a while now and there are not enough words in the English language to describe the amount of stalking I do on her blog and just how amazing it is.

I’d always wanted to try photography but apart from my phone I’d never really had a proper camera and I never really had the motivation to do it until I started reading her blog. Honestly I wish I could tell you I saved my money and did chores around the house and finally bought a camera but really, I just used all the money I was given when I came to Australia. Originally I wanted to use half of the money for buying clothes and put the other half in my bank account but then I decided that getting a camera was an investment that I needed to make so I did it. THIS 13 YEAR OLD WEIRDO BOUGHT A CAMERA!!! I haven’t like, used it yet, because I bought it from my cousin and all of her photos need to be moved to her computer but like I FRIGGEN OWN A CAMERA. So I’m going to be using this camera for two things: a)Youtube and b)photography

PS:I just wanted you to know that I probably won’t be uploading anything on my Youtube channel until the end of January because I come back from Australia on the 20th and I leave for school (oh lol, I totally forgot to tell you, I’m going to boarding school for a year) the next day and like obviously I’ll need time to settle in (my way of saying I wanna make a few friends and it’ll only take me a day max, to finish packing) and then I need to figure out how to edit (lol, so unorganized).
So like a quick word on what I want to do with this whole photography thing.Pretty much, my plan is to make people think. Like, I want my photography to be a representation of how messy things can be. I just want it to ‘say’ not everything is picture perfect and it’s okay to be a little messy sometimes.

Blogmas was a flopppp!
I skipped like ten days. I honestly didn’t notice just how many days behind I was, until Christmas was in 2 days.But I honestly had so much fun doing Blogmas, it was pretty stressful but I don’t really take life seriously😂Oh my word I sound like an idiot😂I meant to say, I’m very laidback, but oh well😂 Seriously though, I hope you enjoyed it!
Also I went to Cleland park yesterday and I got to feed a kangaroo!!

How to Set, Plan and Slay Your Goals in 2018

So I’m gonna soldier talk you through this.That’s my way of saying “Find yourself a notebook badasses of the world I’m about to teach you everything you need to know about goal-setting, planning in the correct way to achieve your goals and how to FINALLY ACHIEVE whatever it is that you have your heart set on for the upcoming new year.”

So the best way to explain this is to add in all the goals I have for myself. Also before we start here are a few things you are going to need:

Tools

  • Pens
  • Highlighters(optional)
  • Paper//Notebook
  • Ruler

Step 1:Create Categories

So before we even start thinking about what we want to achieve we’re gonna make 4-5 main categories which our goals will fall under.

-SCHOOL

-CAREER

-HEALTH

-SELF DEVELOPMENT

I find that pretty much all my goals fit into the four categories but if you want to add more, feel free. Make sure that you don’t have too many categories or it can get very stressful and overwhelming.

Step 2:Brainstorm

What are your goals? These can be about anything. Do you wanna go to gym everyday or smile more? This is the time for you to figure out what all the random goals you want to achieve are.

Write them all down, no matter how weird they may seem.

Step 3:Organise them into categories

*Make sure that you only have 3 or four goals under each category*

Okay, so now that  you’ve created the goals you want to achieve, you need a step-by-step action plan in order to achieve them.

So what you’re gonna do is look at each category, let’s start with School.You’ll notice how the bullet points fit into one another.If I’m getting good grades and have friends then I would be stress free. Let’s say I am stressed though, being around friends is always a great way to relieve stress.

Now we’re gonna make a few little notes under each goal about what you need to do to achieve the goal.If you feel the need to go into more detail about what you need to do for this goal to become an actuality then I would use a page per goal.

~The notes under the goal will be about all the little things you need to do, be it changing habits, or making new ones.

—Take notes in class (so I keep up and don’t have to stress at the end of each term) Cough cough, now where have I heard the word stress before?Take note of the sarcasm.

—Pay attention in class

Lately I’ve Been Thinking…

Okay so recently I was reading this post by Alexandra Jane. And this was a very eye-opening post for me because I related to a lot of the things she talked about. I started Seventeen Wishes because I wanted to meet new people,I wanted to share my thoughts and opinions and have people share their thoughts and feeling with me:I wanted people to interact with.

Lately there’s been something off about Seventeen Wishes and tbh, I hate it.2018 is a new year, another chance for me to redefine what I want for this blog and for me,because this blog is a part of me as much as anything else in my life.


I want to follow people who’s posts I love reading.When I was starting this blog I followed everyone who followed me back regardless of whether or not I liked their content,because I genuinely thought it was just being nice.I’m starting to understand that I would much rather follow people whose posts I like and give them amazing feedback because I mean it.I don’t feel obligated to follow people because they follow me anymore, I spent the day unfollowing a few people because:they deserve better.They deserves followers who engage with them,love their content,smile with them,follow their journey.With the number of people I was following before I couldn’t do that.It was stressful.Now I can, and knowing that despite the fact I had to leave some bloggers on their journey temporarily I still hope for the best for them makes me feel better.


I want to post things you guys actually want to read😂Don’t get me wrong this blog is most definitely for me but I also wanna have stuff that actually interests you😂

Right now, I have 123 but 300 is totally achievable. If I went from a clueless blogger to a semi-clueless blogger:I can do anything 😂

As you know, 2017 was my first year of blogging and I had the opportunity to collab with so many amazing bloggers and just utterly amazing people. It was honestly so much fun, so I cannot wait to do it all again!

  • Share some of the poems I’ve written+artwork

I’ve been wanting to do this for a very long time now, but some of my poems are very…real to say the least. Like I honestly don’t know how to describe it, but I only ever write poems when I’m sad, so my poems aren’t exactly the most…lighthearted.I started getting into drawing this time, last year and I love drawing. I don’t have many “drawings” because I prefer to doodle but like my poems I only doodle when I’m sad.

If you guys have been part of the fam for a while now, you know I work hard to like, be fit and like I tried out for the athletics team for the first time this year and even though I didn’t make it, I did cross country which was a blast! I am honestly so glad I didn’t make the athletics team but 2018’s a new year, so who knows what’ll happen! It’s honestly the funniest thing because when people see this app on my phone they assume I’m tryna lose weight😂like nahh the app is free😂😂

  • Participate! I’m being completely honest and maybe this is just completely abnormal to say but:I don’t like people. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m a people person and I can talk for days about the most random things with strangers and even best friends but I don’t like people. Even reading it sounds weird😂 but like I’d much rather be at home alone having like a productive day with nobody in a 6km radius of me.Let me know if that makes sense to you in the comments and this has nothing to do with me being an ambivert btw😂😂

HOW TO SLAYY THE NEW YEAR//2018 Girlboss Guide

 Let’s face it. 2017 could best be described as the struggle between blogging, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and socializing.There really wasn’t much time to get all that done and fit in time to study for exams and make study notes.

Obviously you’re gonna let school work be a priority but we all get de-motivated and procrastinate or make notes and don’t study from them.

ORGANISATION

1.PLAN

This is the first step because this stage can make it break you. I find that writing a to-do list is always the best way to start off a productive day. Knowing that you have a set plan of what you want to achieve is only gonna make you want to get it all done.

2.HAVE A GOAL

What’s the point of doing anything if you don’t have a goal? A goal is gonna push you towards working harder for your dreams,no matter how far away it may seem.My whole thing is that I wanna inspire people. And I wanna pass math because I wanna get away from school and watch Netflix and travel and blog without any distractions.

3.HAVE A GOOD VIBES 

If I go to school, unhappy about learning or listening in class, it’s gonna be really hard for me to actually get stuff done when the time comes. I love school don’t get me wrong, but I don’t love it because of work or anything, I love it because I get to see my friends. Knowing that in 10 minutes the bell is gonna ring and I can hang with my friends, is one of the only reasons I bother in NS😂

4.SIT NEAR THE FRONT

Knowing that at any second a teacher is gonna catch you talking is a great way to get you to focus, lol. But it’s been scientifically proven that if you sit in the front, your teacher just assumes that you are one of “those” students.

5.ASK QUESTIONS

Not only will it make it seem like you care about learning the stuff, but it’ll help you understand and remember the topic better. Never be too afraid to ask questions, because trust me, when you know the answer to that question in the exam and everyone’s sitting there clueless, you won’t regret asking.

6.TAKE NOTES

I’m one of those people who always seems to have their life together but like, in reality is such a mess. And like, the only reason that happens is because I spent a year watching organisation YouTube videos for fun. Honestly still obsessed with them but, the one major thing I learnt from them is that it’s important to make notes as you learn about the stuff and not wait till two days before the exam to do them. I obviously, being me, didn’t make notes throughout the year for all of my subjects. But for the really content-heavy stuff like EMS, History and NS I did, and that saved me so much time. Because when everyone got their study notes they had to do everything and I was having such a joll because I’d done over half of it.

Also these aren’t my study notes because I’m on holiday in Australia and I don’t need them so I left them at hometumblr_nmirfudga81u9hg3jo1_1280-1.jpg

THE TEDDY BEAR METHOD4857d2f92eca6c6a28ea51783fcd74dc7b0ed4ed_hq.jpg How it works: You place gummy bears or any other sweet of your choice at the end of every paragraph.When you’re studying the information, as soon as you’ve studied a section and reached a gummy bear you get to eat it.

THE TEXTBOOK METHOD

How it works: You read through a page in your textbook once or twice, close it and quickly write down everything you remember.You then, re-open the textbook and add the bits of info you forgot in a different colour.

THE 3 DIFFERENT TYPES OF LEARNERS

Finding out which type of learner you are can help you find the study methods that work best for you.I’m a visual and auditory learner, mostly visual.So I’m gonna break it down so it looks aesthetically pleasing and isn’t just a bland paragraph looking thing. What am I even saying 😂😂

Visual learner

  • Learns best by seeing things
  • Flashcards, colour, diagrams, charts

Kinesthetic learner

  • Learns best by movement
  • Walk around while revising, use games or activities to help you remember,toss a tennis ball around while studying

Auditory Learner

  • Learns best by hearing
  • Study groups, reading aloud, videos,recording yourself and playing it back

NOTE TAKING There are so many different ways to go when it comes to making study notes: flashcards, mind maps, bullet pointing

So this is the Cornell Note Taking technique, the thing I love the most about this, is how visually appealing it is.I tried it for a bit and I loved it so much and then I lost my ruler so😂

Never stop dreaming

Athletics Update: 6 kilometres

I didn’t make the athletics team, but I’m over that.

I did join cross-country though and that’s where the 6 kilometres comes in. 2017 = “Make a Splash (That’s my theme for this year) which is why I’m doing a bunch of stuff I’ve never done before, like cross country. Cross country has practice on Mondays and Tuesdays with meets on Thursdays and I only joined because a)my ride was late and b) a few of my friends do cross country and lastly, c) because I was bored. Running around a track feels a lot shorter than running around a school, anyway today was my first meet. We walked the route before the race and my legs hurt for like, the first km but after that they started adapting to it I guess.#noregrets! I was with my friend Blueberry(no this isn’t her real name for all of you thinking all my friends are named after food) and we agreed to stick together.

We didn’t stick together.

I’m generally better at long distance than she is but I’ve never ran more than 2 km at once and she’s been doing cross-country for 2 years know, I think. Although she left me, I saw someone I knew from my old school and we talked while we were running and then I left her and started jogging faster.

Walking back to our spot was the longest walk ever, I was completely and utterly exhausted! I’m going to keep doing it though because “your only limit is yourself” and because I can’t wait to say that I came *insert dream placing here*. It was actually really fun, I saw my cousin, she was running and then on the bus we talked about the most random things and I couldn’t stop laughing !All in all

Goals

2017. The year I Make A Splash(my theme for this year) which means I have created a list of things I want for myself and hope to achieve in the near future and in years to come.

  1. Pass Technology.I know what you’re thinking how to stupid can she be? What you don’t know is that I suck at building things and when a project that you have to build counts 70% of your grade, things can be a nightmare! When we received our study guides, the first thing they told us was fail these exams and you won’t even get to high school. That’s scary! These exams can make or break me literally. And yet with all of this in my mind, I’m procrastinating by writing this post.
  2. Post more often. I started this blog about a month ago and ever since then I’ve been busy trying to balance school and this blog and it really is a lot but at the end of the day I love my blog so much, and I wish I had more time to post. Which is why I intend to come up with a plan eventually to help me figure all of it out!
  3. Be more spontaneous. I feel as if lately I’ve been more spontaneous, done things I normally wouldn’t do and it feels great. After a while you get bored with the same routine; the late nights and early mornings, hours of stress,  rude people. It just got so old, so I decided that if the world around me won’t hurry up and change I would have to do it myself.
  4. Finish my first proper journal. I started writing in my journal near the end of last year and I’ve almost finished it and it means the world to me. It really does because my journal has helped me discover more about myself than any book or therapist could, I’ve discovered the beauty of art and poetry and met some wonderful people one of which is my best friend 💡who you may remember from my post Dear Miss Perfect. I don’t think I’ll ever stop writing in journals because a pen and piece of paper can express your deepest emotions in the most heartbreakingly beautiful ways imaginable.
  5. Save money. I literally cannot save. Oh cute shirt! Ka-ching. Oh my gosh need those! Ka-ching. The cycle just keeps going on and on and on, which is why I intend to open a fixed deposit account and try my best to forget about it until Matric Dance or College is right around the corner. I really want to get a car on my 18th birthday and my parents refuse to get me a Lambo😭😂😂Which is my only motivation to save money😂😂❤. Like if you have this problem 😂
  6. Stay fit If I’m fit and healthy and I exercise I feel capable of anything and happy which is a must!
  7. Make the athleticscs team Last year I discovered my love for running and fitness and sport which is why I for the first time in my life are actually excited about athletics trials but I have so many doubts, what if I don’t make it or come last or get in and do horribly at competing against other schools.
  8. Keep my scholarship Surprise surprise, I got a scholarship and not like a huge one but big enough and because I’m not that smart, I’m scared. I don’t want to be the- girl- who- lost- her- scholarship, I wanna not care about that stuff and enjoy high school because school is one of the main reasons I get panic attacks.
  9. Find out who A.D is, so I can spoil it for my friends My friends have been watching since the beginning and I only started 2 months ago, so when I accidentally let it slip about some episodes they hadn’t watched yet, they ruined all my favourite shows: I want revenge🤗😂😂

How to be a Girl Boss

  • It’s true, what the picture above says. When I looked at this the first thing I thought was WOW this is so true, then I thought I’m so sick and tired of bad things happening to me, I need to start demanding more and find the self control to tolerate it sometimes. Don’t be rude or cocky, don’t think you’re better than anybody else but know that you are a fighter. Know that you won’t accept people treating you like you’re any less of a person than they are, STAND UP FOR YOURSELF. Know that you are a powerful women even when you don’t feel that way, being a girl boss is a promise to yourself. A promise to take the steps you need to so that you can look back at any point in your life and say, “I slay!”
  • Have goals, they don’t have to be what everyone thinks they should be. Goals represent what you want to achieve for yourself, they are the tiny or huge steps you take to help you become the person you want to be someday.
  • Make sure you set goals and work towards them don’t let every miniscule thing in life get to you e.g you didn’t understand a math problem, this doesn’t mean you will never get into college.However you need to study because Meredith Grey didn’t get to marry McDreamy by not studying.
  • Be aware of your money, if you are not saving at least 10% of your income you are not doing it right. Record your income and expenses even if it’s just a piece of paper with things you bought and your income as long as you know what happens with your money it’s all good. And if you don’t have a budget and you’re struggling with money or you don’t know how to save; write down your expenses,income and look at the places in which you can save money, Google it, and remember that sometimes it’s okay to splurge.
  • Luck? In my opinion it doesn’t exist, you work hard, you become successful, you don’t study, you pass because you played attention in class. In my opinion you have to fight for what you want no matter how brutal and hard the fight it because in the end the results… are amazing.
  • Be creative,creativity is key I like to think of it like this and yes I read it off Pinterest
  • Your body is a blank canvas and every scar and stretch mark, every freckle and spot is a sketch or blob of paint. The next part is all me 😀
  • Your soul and mind are a blank book that you fill with ideas and thoughts, and it just becomes this beautiful, wonderful mess.
  • Which is why I strive to be creative and colour my canvas differently

I really hope you enjoyed this post, I worked really hard on it and the last part was rather creative if I do say so myself  😉
